Cookie policy.
This page lists cookies and similar storage used on wireswifthaven.life and explains how to change your choices. We do not use analytics cookies on this portal.
How consent works
On first visit you see a bone-coloured bar at the bottom of the reading column with three actions: Accept all, Customise, and Reject all. Your choice is stored for 180 days in a first-party cookie named sg_portal_consent_v18 and mirrored in localStorage when your browser allows.
Essential storage always active remembers that decision. Functional storage loads Google Maps embeds. Analytics is listed in the customise panel but disabled and not used.
Cookie table
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sg_portal_consent_v18 | Essential | Stores JSON consent object (essential, functional, analytics flags) | 180 days |
| cookie_consent_v1 (localStorage) | Essential | Mirrors consent if localStorage available | Until cleared |
| Google Maps cookies (various) | Functional | Set by Google when map iframe loads after consent | See Google policy |
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are required to remember your consent choice. Without them, the banner would appear on every page load. They do not track reading behaviour or create marketing profiles.
Functional cookies and maps
Functional cookies allow embedded Google Maps to load. If you reject functional cookies, maps are replaced with a text address block and a "Load map" button. Pressing that button enables functional cookies for the session by saving consent with functional=true.
Google may set its own cookies when an embed loads. We do not control those cookies. Review Google's privacy policy for details on NID, CONSENT, and related identifiers.
Analytics
We do not deploy analytics cookies, pixel trackers, or heatmap scripts on Quay Margin. The customise panel shows an Analytics row greyed out to document that absence.
Browser controls
You may delete cookies through browser settings. Deleting sg_portal_consent_v18 resets your choice and redisplays the banner. Blocking all cookies may prevent consent memory and map loading.
Similar technologies
localStorage entry cookie_consent_v1 mirrors the consent cookie when available so your choice survives browser restarts that clear session cookies but retain storage. It contains the same JSON object and is not used for tracking reading patterns.
We do not use fingerprinting, supercookies, or cross-site tracking pixels. Font files load from Google Fonts when you visit; Google may log font requests under its own policy independent of our consent categories.
Consent withdrawal
You may withdraw functional consent at any time using Manage cookies below or by clearing site data in your browser. Maps revert to placeholders on the next page load. Withdrawal does not affect lawfully processed data from the period before withdrawal.
Logged-out and logged-in readers
This portal provides no accounts or logins. Cookie choices apply per browser profile on each device. Office staff testing the site use the same consent flow as public readers.
Cookie banner placement
The consent bar aligns with the reading column above the bottom edge, matching Quay Margin layout rules. It does not cover navigation links. Accept all saves functional=true; Reject all saves functional=false; Customise opens the panel with toggles described above.
Third-party embed policy
Aside from Google Maps, we do not embed social widgets, video players, or comment plugins that set third-party cookies. If a future editorial project requires an embed, we will list it here before launch and treat it as functional unless strictly essential.
Changes to cookies
If we introduce analytics or embed new third-party media, we will update this table, increment the review date, and re-prompt for consent before non-essential cookies load. Material downgrades — removing a category — take effect immediately when deployed.
