This notice explains how Wire Swift Haven Pte. Ltd. ("Wire Swift Haven", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use wireswifthaven.life and when you contact the Quay Margin desk by email or telephone.
Who we are
We are a private news desk incorporated in Singapore. Our registered office is 27 Mohamed Sultan Road, #02-05, Singapore 238972. The data protection contact is [email protected]. General desk contact is [email protected].
We publish an independent riverside news portal. We are not a data broker and we do not sell personal data. We do not run behavioural advertising on this site and we do not use third-party analytics cookies.
Scope of this notice
This notice applies to visitors of wireswifthaven.life, individuals who email or telephone us, sources who speak with editors, and walk-in readers who identify themselves at The Landing. It does not cover third-party websites linked from our pages; those sites maintain their own policies.
If you interact with us only by reading static pages and rejecting optional cookies, we process very little personal data — primarily server logs described below. If you email us, we process the content you choose to send.
What personal data we collect
Voluntary correspondence. When you email [email protected] or [email protected], we receive your email address, message body, attachments, and metadata such as subject line and time sent. If you include your name, telephone number, or photographs, we treat those as personal data you supplied intentionally.
Telephone calls. If you call +65 6245 3187, we may hear your voice and any information you speak. We do not routinely record calls. Voicemail left after River Hours is stored on our telephone provider's system until deleted manually.
Walk-in visits. We do not require identification to use the corridor reading bench. If you introduce yourself for a meeting, we may note your name in an internal diary alongside the time and topic. We do not scan identity documents at the landing.
Sources and editorial material. Journalists may store contact details for sources who agree to be contacted again. Source notes are kept separately from marketing lists. Off-the-record commitments are enforced as editorial policy, not as a technology feature.
Server and security logs. Our hosting provider processes IP addresses, user agent strings, requested URLs, and timestamps when you load a page. Logs are used for security, abuse detection, and capacity planning. We do not merge logs with email identities unless investigating a specific security incident.
Cookies and similar storage. Essential consent storage remembers your cookie choice for up to 180 days. Optional functional storage allows embedded Google Maps to load. Details appear on Cookies. We do not set analytics cookies on this portal.
Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data for the following purposes: publishing and correcting news; responding to reader enquiries; handling correction and complaint requests; protecting the security of our site and office; complying with applicable law; and maintaining internal records of editorial decisions when personal data is included in filings.
Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore, we rely on consent where you voluntarily send email, on legitimate interests for security logging and editorial record-keeping balanced against your rights, and on legal obligation where retention is required by court order or regulator direction.
Where consent is the basis — for example, optional functional cookies — you may withdraw consent using the cookie controls without affecting essential site operation. Withdrawal does not invalidate processing already performed.
How we use email and attachments
Email is our primary intake because we do not operate contact forms on this portal. Messages may be read by any on-duty editor during River Hours. Attachments are scanned for malware before opening on production machines. We do not auto-forward reader mail to third-party CRM tools.
If you ask to subscribe to the beat digest, we store your email address in a manual list maintained on encrypted office storage. Removal requests are honoured within five River Hours days. The digest contains no tracking pixels.
Disclosure to third parties
We use infrastructure providers located in Singapore or regions with comparable protection for hosting and email transport. Providers process data only on our instructions for hosting, backup, and delivery.
Google Maps embeds load only if you accept functional cookies or press "Load map" on a placeholder. Google may process data under its own terms when an embed loads. We do not control Google's processing and link to their policies from the Cookies page.
We may disclose personal data when required by Singapore law, court order, or lawful request from a regulator with jurisdiction. We may also disclose data to professional advisers bound by confidentiality when necessary for legal claims or corporate compliance.
We do not sell personal data. We do not disclose source identities unless the source releases us from off-the-record commitments or disclosure is required by law after appropriate review.
International transfers
Primary hosting is in Singapore. If email routing temporarily crosses borders, we rely on providers that maintain contractual protections consistent with PDPA expectations. Copies of relevant safeguards may be requested at [email protected].
Retention
Server logs rotate on a short cycle appropriate for security monitoring — typically not longer than ninety days unless an incident requires extended retention. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to resolve enquiries and maintain correction history, then archived or deleted according to internal schedules reviewed annually.
Source contact details are deleted when a story is closed and no follow-up is anticipated, unless the source requests continued contact. Cookie consent records expire after 180 days, after which the banner reappears.
Published corrections remain in The Tide File archive even if they reference personal names mentioned in public filings; we do not remove factual public record citations solely on request unless PDPA erasure grounds apply.
Security measures
We restrict office network access, encrypt portable machines, and patch systems regularly. Editorial material with sensitive source notes is stored separately from public web servers. Staff receive brief training on phishing and attachment handling.
No online transmission is perfectly secure. If you must send highly sensitive material, contact us first so we can suggest a suitable channel during River Hours.
Your rights under the PDPA
Subject to exceptions in the PDPA, you may request access to personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccuracies, withdrawal of consent where processing is consent-based, and information about how we collected your data and how it has been used in the past year.
Send requests to [email protected]. We verify identity before releasing data to prevent unauthorised access. We respond within thirty days in ordinary cases; complex requests may take longer with notice.
If you believe we breached the PDPA, you may lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore after giving us a reasonable opportunity to respond.
Children
The portal is written for general readers and is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child emailed us, contact [email protected] and we will delete the message unless legal retention applies.
Updates to this notice
We update this page when practices change. Material changes are noted by revising the date above. Continued use after an update constitutes acknowledgement for non-consent-based processing; consent-based features will re-prompt where required.
Previous versions may be requested by email. We maintain an internal change log with effective dates.
